§ 46-109. Established.

  • (a)

    There is established certain school zones within the boundaries of the city as follows:

    (1)

    On W. 3rd Street between Harmonson Street and N. Pafford Street;

    (2)

    On Boss Range Road from the point of its intersection with the south property line of the Trail Creek Child Development Center north a distance of 1,600 feet to the most northerly driveway of the city elementary school;

    (3)

    On W. 4th Street between Harmonson Street and N. Pafford Street;

    (4)

    On W. 5th Street between Harmonson Street and N. Pafford Street;

    (5)

    On W. 7th Street between Harmonson Street and N. Pafford Street;

    (6)

    On N. Pafford Street between W. 2nd Street and W. 7th Street; and

    (7)

    On N. College Street between W. 2nd Street and W. 7th Street.

    (b)

    The maximum legal speed limit for the school zone established in subsection (a) of this section, on school days from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., shall be 20 miles per hour, and any person operating a motor vehicle in excess of such limit shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine as provided in this Code.

    (c)

    The chief of police or any other city official designated by the city council shall cause school zone areas to be maintained and marked as designated by this article. All such areas shall be clearly indicated by appropriate signs.

    (d)

    Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this article shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon final conviction thereof, fined in accordance with the general penalty provision found in section 1-10. Each and every day such violation shall continue shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder.
