§ 48-26. Average charge when meter is out of order.

  • All meters, whether private or belonging to the city water and sewer department shall be set by city employees. If the meter fails to register correctly the amount of water used by a customer since the previous reading, the city water and sewer department shall have the right to charge the customer for water at the average monthly consumption, as shown by the meter when correctly registering. In ascertaining the average monthly consumption, the city water department may calculate same on the basis of any three-month period during which the meter correctly registered. All water that passes through the meter shall be charged for whether used or not.
