§ 48-135. Responsibilities of users.

  • (a)

    All property owners, lessees, and tenants shall obey the provisions of this article. If changes are made to the plumbing system of a customer, the property owner shall notify the director or water superintendent.

    (b)

    The owner of leased premises is solely responsible for the installation, testing and repair of all backflow assemblies on or about the leased premises. When the lessee or tenant changes, the owner shall immediately notify the director or water superintendent.

    (c)

    The cost of complying with these regulations shall be the responsibility of the property owners and their lessees. These costs include, but are not limited to, purchasing, installation, testing and repair of the backflow assemblies. Such costs shall also include point-of-use and premise-isolation assemblies. The owner or lessee shall reimburse the city for any extraordinary costs or costs of actual tests or corrections performed or incurred at the premises by the city.
