§ 52-85. Accessory buildings.

  • An accessory building not exceeding 20 feet in height may occupy up to 25 percent of the area of a required rear yard but no accessory building shall be closer than ten feet to the main building or closer than two feet to any interior rear or interior side lot line. Accessory buildings may be located on the rear lot line with no setback where the rear lot line is a dedicated alley right-of-way; except that detached garages taking motor vehicular access from the alley shall be set back at least 20 feet from the alley right-of-way. Accessory buildings may not be located on or across a dedicated utility or drainage easements.
