§ 10-24. Registration of contractors.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to perform, or cause to be performed, building construction work upon or in structures within the corporate limits of the city without first having applied for and obtained registration in the manner prescribed by the city council.

    (b)

    Any person, firm, or corporation, prior to initiating any building work within the corporate limits of the city, shall cause to be filed with the city manager his application for registration and shall, upon such application, provide therein such information as the city council may determine appropriate and proper with respect to background, experience, previous licensing, address and other pertinent information.

    (c)

    There shall be issued to the applicant his registration to perform building work within the corporate limits of the city provided such application has been completed in all respects and a registration fee has been paid by the applicant to the city. There shall be charged an annual renewal fee which the applicant shall pay to the city and which upon payment shall automatically cause his registration within the city to be renewed for a period of one additional year.
