§ 48-80. Fire hydrants.

Fire hydrants shall be provided at such locations along off-site and along site water mains, in accordance with the requirements of the state board of insurance for the best fire insurance key rate available in the state. All such fire hydrants shall be served by a minimum of a six-inch main in residentially zoned districts and a minimum of an eight-inch main in industrial and commercially zoned districts. No new development shall be served until it provides fire hydrants to such specifications, and no line shall be extended to serve existing residents unless and until a fee as set forth in the city fee schedule to cover the costs of installing fire hydrants has been paid to the city.
